In today’s world, mental issues have become quite a matter of concern. Mental illness is a condition which can trigger people of any age at any time and thus doctors are also trying to open up about the topic for a long time. This is especially important since mental health issues are still a taboo in our society and people are not taking it seriously.

And to break this taboo, several personalities around the world have come forward to talk about it publicly. Many celebrities from Bollywood, too, have supported several initiatives arranged by NGOs as well as by the government. Deepika Padukone has recently come up with Live Laugh Love Foundation to help those, who are in need. Way back in 2014, she opened up about her struggles. It was lauded as she was the first A-lister to publicly acknowledge that she was suffering from depression.

With World Mental Health Day falling on October 10, Deepika Padukone recently visited the rural areas of Tamil Nadu, where she interacted with mental health patients. She even visited their homes individually and not just spent time with them but also had meals with them. She attentively heard about their struggle and comforted them by giving long hugs.

Deepika has shared few candid moments with those women on social media and expressed her feelings while writing, “Since our inception, we have been relentless in our efforts to improve the lives of those experiencing mental illness, as well as the lives of their caregivers. Expanding our rural outstretch program to Tamil Nadu is one more important step towards making mental health care accessible and affordable for all.”
