It appeared that things are not in favour of Aamir Khan at present. His most recent film, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ (2022), had a poor box office performance. Then it was speculated that Salman Khan chose not star in the actor’s Indian adaptation of the Spanish film ‘Champions’ (2018). According to the latest buzz, things has gone for a toss again as Aditya Chopra has chosen to put Aamir’s son Junaid’s debut project ‘Maharaja’ on hold in order to focus on other endeavors like ‘Tiger 3’, ‘War 2’ and ‘Tiger Vs Pathaan’.
‘Maharaja’ has been majorly shot, but Yash Raj Films have decided not to move ahead with the project because of the high level of risk involved in it. While the news of the film’s cancellation shocked everyone, it has been reported that Aamir Khan has been calling YRF’s head honcho Aditya Chopra to gather further information. In response, Aditya informed Aamir that although ‘Maharaja’ is being delayed, it isn’t being completely abandoned.
Aditya currently wants to concentrate on ‘War 2′ with Jr. NTR and Hrithik Roshan, ‘Tiger 3′ with Salman Khan and ‘Tiger Vs Pathaan’ with the two top tier stars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. The tables have changed after the mega success of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ (2023) because Chopra believes these three movies could propel YRF to another level. If reports are to be believed, Aditya has planned to revive ‘Maharaja’ after the release of these three films.
Meanwhile, it is also being said that following the current status of ‘Maharaja’, Aamir’s son Junaid will now make his Bollywood entry with the Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Love Today’ (2022), which will be produced by Anurag Kashyap.
