This morning, April 20, Pamela Chopra, the late filmmaker Yash Chopra’s wife, the mother of Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra and mother-in-law of Rani Mukerji, passed away at the age of 74. She was a well-known singer as well as a film producer and writer. Her condition reportedly declined while she was being treated at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital. As per reports, she was hospitalized since 15 days and was on the ventilator. Her funeral took place at 11am in Mumbai.
Yash Raj Films released a statement to confirm Pamela Chopra’s death, which stated, “With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11am today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection.”

Veteran lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar paid tribute to Pamela Chopra in his tweet and wrote, “Today Pam ji the better half of Shri Yash Chopra has passed away. She was a great lady. Intelligent, educated, warm and witty. Those who like me have worked closely with Yash ji know about her contribution in his scripts and music. She was an exceptional person.”
