Veteran actor William Daniels, who is best known for his role as Mark Craig in ‘St. Elsewhere’ (1982-1988), turned 95 years old on March 31. His spell-binding performance in the series made him win two Primetime Emmy Awards.
Born in New York City, Daniels started his career as a DJ at an Army radio station and then became a member of Daniels Family in Brooklyn. He made his first TV debut in 1943 on NBC Channel as part of a variety act. Later he joined the Broadway Theatre and made his debut there with ‘Life With Father’ (1943) and continued his career as an actor there for decades.
Willam Daniels has earned fame for his voice work for the role K.I.T.T in the TV series ‘Knight Rider’ (1982), created by Glen A. Larson. He has also reprised his role later in the sequel movie ‘Knight Rider’ in 2000.
Apart from ‘St. Elsewhere’, William Daniels has also given a number of other notable works like ‘Ladybug Ladybug’ (1963), ‘A Thousand Clowns’ (1965), ‘The President’s Analyst’ (1967), ‘Black Sunday’ (1977), ‘The Blue Lagoon’ (1980) and many more.
He has also done few remarkable series parallaly such as ‘The Nancy Walker Show’ (1976-1977), ‘Galactica 1980’ (1980), ‘The Simpsons’ (1998-2004), ‘Star Trek Voyager’ (2000), ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ (2012) among others.
At this age, although he has taken a step back from acting to spend a simple life further, but William Daniels has left behind an ever lasting impact on multiple generations of audiences with his outstanding performances, whether it’s as Mr. Fenny or John Adams or Mark Craig.
