Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel and his family, appear to be nearing the finish line at last. It was only a matter of time until fans started to question when the epic, high-octane ‘The Fast And Furious’ (2001) franchise will come to an end, especially with the upcoming film, ‘Fast X’, slated to speed into theatres on May 19 this year. Vin Diesel responded to the queries of fans and made the announcement that the final ‘Fast And Furious’ movie, ‘Fast X: Part 2’, will hit theatres in 2025. Vin made the announcement during the on going CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Diesel made the statement onstage at the film preview, alongside key members Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang. The actor stated, “ ‘Fast’ is now the longest running franchise in movie history featuring the same actors playing the same characters.” He went on to thank the fans by saying, “Thank you for making us, adopting us as a world saga, and we hope to make you proud.”
Even though Part 1 is releasing on May 19, preparations for Part 2 have already begun, with the recent announcement that director Louis Letterier, who stepped in to direct Part 1 after the departure of original director Justin Lin, would be returning to helm the eleventh installment. The films have previously been described as a two-part conclusion to the ‘Fast’ saga. So, having one director on hand to carry the tale through to the end makes sense.
