Vikram Gokhale’s wife rejects news of his death; confirms that he’s on life support

Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale, who has been admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune since November 5, was rumoured to be dead yesterday. According to a few reports, Gokhale was critically ill and had breathed his last yesterday evening, on November 23. The news of his demise went viral on social media late night.

Today, on November 24, at 10 am in the morning, a group of doctors and his family including his wife and daughter held a meeting. PRO Shirish Yadgikar of Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital confirmed that the actor is still critically ill and on ventilation. He has been admitted to the ICU and he is very much alive.

After the doctors and hospital management, the actor’s wife, Vrushali Gokhale also reacted to the death news and told ETimes, “He slipped into coma yesterday afternoon and after that, he has not responded to touch. He is on ventilator. Doctors will decide tomorrow morning what to do, depending on whether he’s improving, sinking or still not responding.”

Mrs. Gokhale also corrected the rumours of the actor’s age that he is 77 years old and not 82, “My daughter Nisha Kekar Adav, from San Francisco has arrived. The other one, Neha Gokhale, has been right here in Pune. She lives in Mumbai.”

Vikram Gokhale is one of the most popular actors from the ‘70s to ‘90s and has been quite renowned among Hindi, Marathi films and has also done several TV programs. His last Marathi film was ‘Godavari’ (2021). And in Hindi, he was recently seen in ‘Nikamma’ (2022) along with Shilpa Shetty.

The veteran actor made his debut in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, ‘Parwana’ in 1971. Since then, he has worked in more than sixty films, including Hindi and Marathi. From ‘Vikram Vetal’ (1986), ‘Agneepath’ (1990), ‘Khuda Gawah’ (1992) to ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999), ‘Tum Bin’ (2001), ‘Lucky: No Time For Love’ (2005), ‘ Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ (2007), ‘Bang Bang’ (2014), Gokhale has worked in various popular Hindi and Marathi films. He has also worked in TV serials and has done several plays.
