The Indian cinema has lost an eminent personality again. Vikram Gokhale, who has worked in over sixty films since the ‘70s, took his last breath today, November 26, at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune at the age of 77 due to multi-organ failure. The veteran actor was admitted to the hospital since November 5. According to doctors, he was on ventilation and was in critical condition.
The hospital management declared the news by saying, “We are saddened to announce that noted actor Vikram Gokhale passed away today at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital due to multi-organ failure.”
Rajesh Damale, a family friend also announced that the actor breathed between 1:45 pm and 2 pm today. He said, “He was admitted to the hospital 15 days ago following health complications and was undergoing treatment. Today he breathed his last between 1:45 pm and 2 pm.”
Vikram Gokhale is survived by his wife Vrushali Gokhale and two daughters, Nisha Kekar Adav and Neha Gokhale.
The actor started his career as a theatre actor and joined the big screen from the ‘70s. From ‘Vikram Vetal’ (1986), ‘Agneepath’ (1990), ‘Khuda Gawah’ (1992) to ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999), ‘Tum Bin’ (2001), ‘Lucky: No Time For Love’ (2005), ‘ Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ (2007), ‘Bang Bang’ (2014), Gokhale has worked in various popular films in the industry. The actor made his very debut in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer ‘Parwana’ (1971).
Not only in Hindi, but Vikram Gokhale was also famous in the Marathi industry and worked in several TV serials. He was last seen in ‘Godavari’ (2021), a Marathi film and ‘Nikamma’ (2022), along with Shilpa Shetty in Bollywood.
Vikram Gokhale’s family informed that his remains will be taken to Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir and last rites will be performed at Vaikunth crematorium in Pune.
