Tollywood actress from the South, Srijita Ghosh was lucky to get her first movie in Telugu, ‘Idhe Maa Katha’ (2021), co-starring Bhoomika Chawla, Srikanth and Sumanth Ashwin. It was based on the story of a journey of a bike rider who rode from Hyberabad to Manali. The role of a biker was played by Srijita.

Her second movie is ‘Katha Venuka Katha’, which is going to release in the month of February this year. Her co-stars are Vishwanth Duddumpudi and Ali sir, a very famous comedian in Telugu movies. Other than these, Sunil and Satyam Rajesh will also be seen sharing the screen space with the actress. It was a nice experience to work with all of them for a suspense thriller movie. She enjoyed playing the role of a homely and determined character.

According to Srijita, her third movie is very special to her which is ‘Usire Usire’, a Kannada movie. This movie features well-known actors Kichha Sudeep and Rajeev Hanu. “The story is based on Hindu and Muslim love story where she is playing the role of a Muslim character. It will give a message to the audience about pure love.”

Her fourth movie is ‘Irra Gurri’, which will be released in all four languages of South India viz, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Srijita is playing the role of a village girl and the movie is about the superstitions that a girl child is a curse and all the loses are borne by the family because of the birth of the girl child.

She was also seen in Hindi web series of MX Player, ‘Uni Ki Yaari’ (2022). She is hoping to shoot for the part 2 as well. Meanwhile, she is in talks with two big productions of Telugu and Kannada which will be revealed post she is on board.

Other than movies, she has also worked in music videos. One of her well-known music videos was with the legend A R Rahman’s associate, Mr. Dilshad Salim Shaikh, in Tamil.

In an interview, Srijita shared that she believes that it is no more Bollywood and Tollywood industry. “Instead, it has become one industry, that is the Indian Film Industry, which has to be very important to be accepted by the audiences as Southern actors are working in Hindi movies vice versa.”

She also aspires to work in Hindi movies soon because though South is always a good field for her and they have accepted her well there and she also loves the stories, plots and technicalities of that industry but about Hindi industry she senses it will come to her very naturally as that is her own language.

Srijita then mentioned that in our country, we have different cultures and languages and we must respect each of them. “People have talents from each and every single state. Just like West Bengal is known for its musical culture and singers and Maharashtra has good actors, in South India, we have lot of good technicians.”

Srijita further shared that every industry is doing very well. “As we say there are two kinds of movies, one is commercial and other is art. In Hindi cinema we have concept based movies whereas in web series or web shows it is more subject based. The performance by the actor has to be very natural and subtle based on eye catchy stories.”

Srijita even said that Telugu audience is fond of more drama, action, dance and colourful frame. The Malayalam movies are off beat, slow and focus more on good concept. Hindi movies are more commercial based so, there is really no comparison as all the industries are doing good. She feels that Bollywood Film Industry can also be a Hollywood Film Industry soon.

She is keen to work with Ayushmann Khurrana as he is a brilliant actor and singer as well according to her. The way he justifies the characters and the movies he chooses is very inspirational. She would also love to work with ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’ (2022) star Kaartik Aaryan as well.

She would also like to work with various directors like Sujit Sarcar, who has given hits like ‘Vicky Donor’ (2012), ‘Piku’ (2015), ‘Pink’ (2016) and ‘October’ (2018). Sanjay Leela Bhansali also is her all time favourite director as she is fond of fantasy and historical stories. She shared that she would like to play the character from a movie directed by Anurag Basu, Imitiaz Ali and Rohit Shetty.

When we asked her about her passion for acting, she recollected stories about her childhood where she remembers her mother telling her that she was very fond of Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla and after watching their movies she would imitate them in front of the mirror just at the age of two years.

We wish her all the luck for her future and hoping that the Bollywood industry will welcome a talented actress like her with open arms.
