Sushant Singh Rajput’s rise to fame has been anything but ordinary. The Gen-X star, who is just about six films old, has managed to not just shock us with his character transformations, bowl us over with his dancing skills but also impress us with his versatile performances and all this while looking like a million bucks.
The star has also never failed to deliver one fine performance after another, pushing boundaries and taking risks every step of the way.
Says an industry source, “While some actors are stereotyped as good lookers or good entertainers in terms of action or dance, Sushant is someone who has managed to break that stereotype. He dances, performs his own stunts, makes an attempt to look different with every single role and is a genuinely great actor. Unlike his contemporaries he has never followed a linear pattern of working”.
What’s more is that Sushant has always been lauded for the career choices he has made so far. From picking a film like ‘Kai Po Che!’ (2013), based on the Godhra riots to make his big screen debut, to living the character of ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’ (2015) for which he received critical acclaim – He also chose to be part of Raju Hirani’s ‘PK’ (2014) and be part of strong content and great subjects despite not being in the lead, following it up with a film like ‘MS Dhoni’ where he played the titular role and brought the cricketer to life on screen.
Homi Adajania adds, “He stands out because of his patience and his choices. He doesn’t toe the line or opt for supposedly safe, fluffy films. Unsafe choices may be a gamble but they build credibility of talent”.
