The show ‘Disco Dancer-The Musical’, which had premiered in Mumbai’s on to a rapturous response, had some very special guests in the audience. Over one hundred and eighty six kids from a street school named Prayas were brought to the spectacular show by the NGO SaRVAA. It was the most moving experience for the cast and crew to see them cheering and rooting for Jimmy and dancing along with him to ’80s infectious hits.
Jimmy, if you remember, the lead character from director B Subhash’s hit ‘Disco Dancer’ (1982), which was played by Mithun Chakraborty, was a street singer and dancer who goes through great hardships before he becomes a superstar. This tale of trials and triumph struck a chord with the children and their emotional reaction reminded everyone of the power of aspirational stories.
