The much anticipated ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has hit theatres yesterday, June 3. The wait to watch Sonu Sood in a big budget Bollywood big screen after 2018 has been palpable and the actor has made it worth the wait for his fans.
Slipping effortlessly into the skin of Chand Bardai, Sonu Sood has stunned everyone with his performance. In fact, it is impossible to take your eyes off him every time he is on screen. And as usual, he wears the face of his character convincingly. His fans have taken it upon themselves to promote the film and advocate watching it.
His fans have been known to go crazy over his scenes. They have been seen throwing money at the screen when he graces a scene. Infact, young fans even shaved their heads and dressed like their favourite real hero. His life size cut out was welcomed with garlands and milk as a mark of respect It’s not only his fans that think so. Critics are raving about his performance too.
A reviewer wrote, “One of the best actors to watch out for is Sonu Sood, who plays Chand Bardai, a sort of Prithviraj’s twin as they were born on the same day. He is seen as an astrologer as he could predict everything that surrounded Prithviraj’s life. Another reviewer perfectly captured Sonu’s versatility by saying, “Sonu Sood has almost as big a role as Akshay’s and plays a court poet who is also a warrior. He looks good while playing friend, philosopher and guide to the valiant king.”
Talking about his performance, a film critic said, “Sonu’s character as the king’s die-hard loyalist is the one with a lot of ‘thehrav’ (calmness) and maturity, which stands out.”
