As per reports, Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer film earned just over Rs. 7 Crore domestically on day one, which is underwhelming given the film’s scale and the fan following of Kartik.
Kartik’s first release of the year, the big-budget family action entertainer ‘Shehzada’, has failed to get the respectable start at the box office. The film minted the Rs. 7 Crore mark in domestic collections on day one, which is average. Given the film’s scale and release, the numbers are below expectations which has sent shock waves in the industry.
Reportedly a budget of Rs. 85 Crore, ‘Shehzada’ is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Allu Aravind, Kartik Aaryan, Aman Gill and S.Radha Krishna Kumar. The Rohit Dhawan-directorial is a remake of Allu Arjun’s film ‘Ala Vaikunthapurumaloo’ (2020) and it also stars Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Ronit Roy, Rajpal Yadav, Sachin Khedekar and Sunny Hinduja. The family action entertainer sees Kartik in an action role for the first time in his career and was widely anticipated, taking in consideration, the performance of his last theatrical release ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ (2022), which opened to Rs. 13.50 Crore.
However, the collections are not as expected. It may go up on weekend but it may not be enough for such a big film. Given that the film has received mixed to negative reviews, it will not get good word of mouth as well. As per some reports, a few shows of the film across India have been cancelled on opening day due to theatres getting no bookings.
