Music director Lalit Sen, who has given numerous unforgettable cult classic Hindi songs in the ‘90s like “Mera Dil Le Gaya” from ‘Ziddi’ (1997), “Poster Lagwado Bazaar Mein” from ‘Aflatoon’ (1997), “Aaja Main Sikha Do” from ‘Hatyara’ (1998), “Pagal Pagal” from ‘Arjun Pandit’ (1999) and many more, has recently shared his experience with the singing legend late Lata Mangeshkar Ji.
Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 92. She was suffering from Covid-19, as well as pneumonia. Speaking about his experience, Lalit Sen said that Lata Mangeshkar Ji used to be very down-to-earth. She always said that music composers are the Gurus, as they taught her composition and made her singing perfect.
Lalit Sen further shared that he feels very fortunate that he was the first person in the industry, to make all the Mangeshkar sisters collaborate together along with veteran singer, Pankaj Udhas for the album ‘Aarti Vandan’ in 1991, when he was just 22 years old.
Recalling the times he worked with the singing icon, Lailt Sen said that he was very young in 1988 and for that he wasn’t able to ask Lata ji to sing for his composed songs, but later when he started his career, Lata ji had always supported him from the very beginning and showed her concern. He also shared, while rehearsing, Lata ji always used to ask if her singing is close enough to what Lalit Ji wanted and that made him always feel superior like a teacher. He quoted, “This was her simplicity and dedication.”
Lalit Sen said, he feels blessed to have many moments with her.
