The Shamshera jukebox is full of original songs and that’s the best part of the album which makes it refreshing. “Of course, Shamshera is a period action entertainer. So, the music also had to fit in that period so that it’s not jarring. The film has very different kinds of songs. It’s got a good amalgamation of different kinds of music which I really like and I hope people like it too.”, said Ranbir on the music album of ‘Shamshera’ and indeed the variety of songs is impressive.
The music of the film is composed by Mithoon and the lyrics are penned by Mithoon, Karan Malhotra, and Piyush Mishra. Being a period film, the tracks give complete vibes of that age. The album opens with “Ji Huzoor” sung by Aditya Narayan which takes you to a rugged land of rebels. The song is full of energy and beats and one would be pumped up with energy after listening to this song. “Hunkara” by Piyush Mishra is also a song that gives similar vibes.
The love anthem by Arijit Singh and Neeti Mohan is “Fitoor”. The song is not just refreshing but beautifully presented. This is a song that must be heard on loop. The original track is presented with utter beauty even visually.
“Kaale Naina” is a subtly seductive folk song using Indianised music. The dhol and tabla use is quite prominent and makes the song attractive. The voice of Neeti Mohan does all the magic it could.
“Parinda” is a melancholic number praying for unity and strength. Sukhwinder Singh’s vocals add power and confidence to it. The beats are extremely engaging and are a good motivational song to pump one with power.
Overall the songs of ‘Shamshera’ are beautifully composed and sung. Every song is engaging and can be heard on a loop.
