Following the huge success of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (2012), fans have been eagerly anticipating its sequel. According to recent speculations, Anees Bazmee would take over the directing duties for ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’ from Prabhu Deva, while Sanjay Leela Bhansali will step in as producer once again. Interestingly, the rumours also state that both Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, who appeared in the original film, will not appear in the sequel. Instead, it is said that Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani have been approached to play the lead roles.
When asked Anees Bazmee about the sequel, he avoided giving a specific answer but hinted that conversations are still taking place and a formal announcement will be made when the time is right.
Meanwhile on the work front, Anees Bazmee who previously directed ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ (2022), is reportedly directing Shahid Kapoor in a comedy action drama bankrolled by Zee Studios. The project is expected to go on floors by July this year. After completing this film, Anees will start working on third installment of the horror-comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ which is scheduled to release on Diwali 2024.
