Indian feature filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee, has won a prestigious Award of Excellence, from ‘The Best Shorts Film Competition’ for ‘Rickshawala’ in United States of America. The award was given for Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s exciting direction, under the banner of Assorted Motion Pictures. “Director Ram Kamal delivered a high quality project with a compelling story line, well researched document with outstanding technical and performance craft. Special mention to male protagonist Avinash Dwivedi for paying tribute to legendary Indian actor Om Puri through his craft”, says the Festival Director from ‘The Best Shorts Film Competition’, California, USA.
“I am overwhelmed that ours being the only Bengali film, apart from one Hindi feature that could make its presence felt at the global platform at this prestigious festival. The film has been travelling across the globe and this has been a matter of pride and happiness for all of us in India,” says Director Ram Kamal Mukherjee. The film is produced by Aritra Das, Sarbani Mukherjee, Shhailendra Kkumar and Gaurav Daga. Exquisitely shot in Kolkata by internationally acclaimed cinematographer Modhura Palit, edited by Pronoy Dasgupta. The music is composed by Neerajan Saha and vocals rendered by Krishanu Banerjee.
‘The Best Shorts Competition’ recognizes film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change. Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry. “I can’t believe that our film bagged this prestigious award in the USA. I would give this entire credit to my director Ram Kamal Mukherjee, who conceived and executed this film with finesse. As an actor I have received maximum accolades for this film, and it will always remain very close to my heart,” says actor Avinash Dwivedi. The film also stars Sangita Sinha and Kasturi Chakraborty. The film will be premiered exclusively on BiiggBang Amusement in July.
In winning a ‘Best Shorts’ award, Ram Kamal Mukherjee joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award including The Weinstein Company for Market Hours, Disney Interactive for Vinlymation: A Love Story and Oscar winning production Mr. Hublot from Laurent Witz from Luxembourg.
