Remember that helicopter pilot, Stringfellow Hawke from the ‘80s famous TV series, ‘Airwolf’? That legendary role was portrayed by Jan-Michael Vincent. Yesterday, on July 15, Vincent would have been turned 78 years old.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Jan had debuted in 1967 with ‘The Bandits’, which was also starred and co-directed by legendary Robert Conrad. Although Jan has done several projects in the ‘60s and ‘70s, he rose to fame with ‘Big Wednesday’ (1978) and ‘Airwolf’ (1984-1987).
Jan-Michael Vincent took his last breath three years ago on February 10, 2019 at the age of 74, due to cardiac arrest at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. The news was devastating for all Airwolf fans.
With those charming looks, great physique and marvellous acting skills, the star had given numerous remarkable works like ‘The World’s Greatest Athlete’ (1973), ‘Buster And Billie’ (1974), ‘Bite The Bullet’ (1975), ‘Vigilante Force’ (1976), ‘Damnation Alley’ (1977), ‘The Winds Of War’ (1983), ‘Alienator’ (1990), ‘Deadly Heroes’ (1993) and many more.
Sadly, the actor had to deal with issues with alcohol and drug addiction even before ‘Airwolf’ started filming in 1983. Stringfellow Hawke in ‘Airwolf’ was a class apart.
Jan-Michael Vincent is gone, but will never be forgotten.
