Karan Johar has successfully drowned us in a rollercoaster of emotions ever since he dropped the much awaited teaser of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. He started with the dramatic teasers and trailers, made us fall in love with “Tum Kya Mile”, gave us some quirky vibes with “What Jhumka?” and then made us emotional with “Ve Kamleya”. Now, the makers are all set to give us some festival vibes.

The long awaited song from the film, “Dhindhora Baje Re”, has finally dropped and it’s already making the Bengalis miss their greatest festival of the year, Durga Puja. Today Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt travelled to Kolkata for the big launch of the song as it represents the famous Durga Puja festival and gives all the flavours of the Bengali culture.

Previously the teaser had already given us some glimpse of the grand set and hundreds of background dancers’ energetic dance moves matching Ranveer and Alia’s steps. Now after releasing the full song, it can be surely said that the whole set-up is literally reminding us of the “Dola Re Dola” song from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’ (2002).

“Dola Re Dola” was also a part of the Durga Puja sequence, where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit Nene broke the floor with their energetic dances moves. This time, Ranveer and Alia have taken the initiative to do so with their powerful dance.

Besides the dance, the whole set-up coloured in red and golden, the costumes worn by Singh and Bhatt along with the dancers, are also giving a major festival vibe. Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Churni Ganguly and Ronit Roy are also seen attending the festival in vividly colourful costumes. According to the trailer, it seems like Jaya Bachchan is not happy with the coupling of Ranveer and Alia and she wants to break them up. Hence in “Dhindhora Baje Re”, Ranveer and Alia are seen trying to mock Bachchan and express their strong bonding through the song.

After hearing Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal’s voices in all the earlier songs “Tum Kya Mile”, “What Jhumka?” and “Ve Kamleya”, it seems like Darshan Raval and Bhoomi Trivedi have tried to match their powerful rendition and they have been successful. The strong and influential voice which was needed for this festival song was successfully achieved by Darshan and Bhoomi.

Last but not the least, Pritam’s composition and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics have also done justice. All the songs have succeeded in striking the audiences’ attention; now all eyes are on the release of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ and whether it manages to meet the high expectations.

Directed by Karan Johar, backed by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios, starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Churni Ganguly, Ronit Roy and Kshitee Jog, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ is releasing in cinemas on July 28.
