Randeep Hooda remembers Sarabjit Singh on his tenth death anniversary; writes, “The struggles and hardships you underwent can never be forgotten”

Randeep Hooda yesterday remembered Sarabjit Singh, who wandered into Pakistan in 1990 and was imprisoned for 23 years on several kinds of unacceptable charges. Sarabjit died on May 2, 2013, in a Pakistani jail as a result of a violent attack.

Randeep uploaded a few images of Sarabjit on his Twitter handle on his tenth death anniversary. Sarabjit can be seen smiling while giving his sister Dalbir Kaur a bear hug in one of the images. While posting the images, the actor stated, “Today marks 10 years since we lost Sarabjit Singh; the struggles and hardships you underwent can never be forgotten. I am so thankful to have met Dalbir ji, a strong woman who battled the system on behalf of her brother, and feel quite privileged to have known her. I will always treasure the love she gave me. #Sarbjit.”

Randeep Hooda essayed the titular role in Sarabjit Singh’s biopic, titled ‘Sarbjit’ (2016). The film is based on Sarabjit Singh, a farmer from Bhikiwind, Punjab, near the India-Pakistan border, who crossed into Pakistan after a few drinks. He was accused of being a spy and was sentenced to death by Pakistan’s Supreme Court in 1991. Randeep Hooda got a lot of accolades for his performance and its considered to be one of his best.

Besides Hooda, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Richa Chadha and Darshan Kumaar were also featured in this Omung Kumar-directorial.
