Arjun Rampal, one of the hottest actors currently, made his big Bollywood debut with ‘Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat’ in 2001. It’s been twenty-two years and the film still remains underrated. The songs, the locations, the love triangle and the storyline were quite praiseworthy.
For the unversed, ‘Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat’ was inspired from Cameron Diaz’s ‘There’s Something About Mary’ (1998). The film followed the story of three men, Yash, Taj and Gaurav, who were madly in love with Isha, a beautiful and charming woman. Isha was friendly with all three of them, being unaware of their personal agendas of pursuing her.
Although Arjun Rampal is currently one of the hottest actors, in this film, he showed us his charismatic and romantic side in the beginning. Starting his career through modelling, this film was his first chance to exhibit his talent and prove that he’s more than being just a model. His innocent and cute personality and the way he handled the emotional moments with maturity grabbed the attention most. On the other hand, Suneil Shetty as Yash and Aftab Shivdasani as Taj were not that bad either.
The first half of ‘Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat’ had a lot of engaging moments, like Isha (Keerthi Reddy) kissing Gaurav (Arjun) on his birthday. The narrative kept us curious till the end as to who Isha will end up with.
Unfortunately, the dilemma was so stretched that it was quite tiring to watch till the end without any relief. The film had a rich look throughout, but no soul to captivate.
The one thing that only was remarkable was the cinematography. The breathtakingly beautiful locales of Scotland and Switzerland were well captured.
As ‘Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat’ has completed twenty-two years today, let’s revisit the songs “Apni Yaadon Ko”, “Chand Ho Ya Na Ho”, “Dono Taraf”, “Jab Tujhe Main”, “Tum Lakh Chupe Ho”, “Main Bewafa” and “Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat” once again and drown into a dreamy romance.
