The first part of Mani Ratnam’s historical ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ (2022) was released last year and was a huge hit at the box office, collecting Rs. 500 Crore worldwide. However, the Hindi version of the film failed to fetch impressive numbers and also received a mixed response from the Hindi audience later, during its digital release.
Now, the sequel is up for a release and on Wednesday March 29, the makers launched the official trailer of the sequel in a grand event. The second part of ‘PS 2’ is slated to release on April 28, 2023.
The three-minutes thirty-second trailer is just magical and grand. The lead stars of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ include Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Trisha. They look majestic in their respective avatars and grab attention with their dialogues and screen presence in the trailer. A R Rahman’s background score in the trailer is just thrilling. The trailer looks polished and the visuals are an absolute treat for the eyes. It can be said that the trailer manages to build up curiosity for the film.
The trailer of ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ has been released in five languages. The grand trailer launch was graced by the film’s lead stars while Kamal Haasan and Silambasaran were the chief guests. The lead stars appeared in grand attire, and their lovely pictures from the event are doing the rounds of the internet.
