Bagging the title of Netflix’s biggest hit, the nine-episode action thriller ‘Squid Game’ (2021) is a global hit. The series deals with debt-ridden contestants who play childhood games with life threatening consequences to win $45.6 billion. Minyoung Kim, Netflix’s vice president of content for Korea, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand, in an interview told CNN, “When we first started investing in Korean series and films in 2015, we knew we wanted to make world-class stories for the core K-content fans across Asia and the world. Today, ‘Squid Game’ has broken through beyond our wildest dreams.”
The production cost of ‘Squid Game’ was comparatively less as well viz. $2.4 million per episode. After the huge success of the season, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is thinking to launch another season as well. He has revealed the topics that would continue the storyline if a sequel comes up.
