Inspired by the real-life story of Jaswant Singh Gill, the mining engineer, who led India’s coal mine rescue mission at the Raniganj Coalfield in November 1989 and saved 65 miners, Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra have joined hands to bring the thrilling story to the screen. Previously the film was titled as ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Indian Rescue’. Due to the several speculations of changing the name India as Bharat, the makers have changed the film name now as ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’.

Jackky Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment has just dropped the teaser of the film and no doubt it perfectly teases the netizens with its gripping sneak-peaks of the rescue operation. It also shows the heart wrenching story of miners, who were trapped inside a 350-foot-deep mine.

Jaswant Singh Gill had received several accolades for his bravery for saving miners’ lives. He passed away in 2019 at the age of 80.

While sharing the teaser, Akshay wrote, “In 1989, one man achieved the impossible! Watch the story of Bharat’s true hero with #MissionRaniganj in cinemas on 6th October.”

Starring Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Virendra Saxena, Shishir Sharma and Ananth Mahadevan, ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’ is all set to release on October 6, 2023.
