Renowned former TV star, Richard Dean Anderson turned 72 years old on January 23, 2022. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Anderson started his career as a comedy actor in American soap opera ‘General Hospital’ in 1976. He first got his break through the TV series ‘MacGyver’ in 1985, which had become a worldwide hit and lasted till 1992.
After he rose to fame from ‘MacGyver’, he appeared in numerous remarkable movies like ‘Through The Eyes Of A Killer’ (1992), ‘Beyond Betrayal’ (1994), ‘Doomsday Virus’ (1996), ‘Firehouse’ (1997), ‘Children Of The Gods’ (1997) and many more.
Anderson got his second break through ‘Stargate SG-1’ in 1997, a TV series remake of the sci-fi movie ‘Stargate’ (1994), replacing actor Kurt Russell in the series. The show lasted till 2007 and Anderson played the lead role, Jack O’Neill till 2005. Since 1997, he has appeared in only one movie ‘Stargate: Continuum’ in 2008. He has also appeared in other ‘Stargate’ series such as ‘Stargate: Atlantis’ (2004-2009) and ‘Stargate: Universe’ (2009-2011), reprising his role as Lieutenant General Jack O’Neill.
After this, he has completely disappeared from the entertainment industry. However, the former comedian actor was once asked to take up the role again in ‘MacGyver’ in 2016 for its 35th anniversary of the first episode, but he refused it saying he has become old and fat and now only wants to focus on his family.
