Alankrita Shrivastava, the director of Lipstick Under My Burkha, graced the Stockholm International Film Festival, as a jury member of the Impact section. Shrivastava was first invited to Stockholm to present Lipstick Under My Burkha in the Spotlight section. Additionally, the festival asked her to be part of the jury of the Stockholm Impact Award for her interesting perspective that was reflected in her film.
Says Alankrita, “It has been a great honour to be invited as part of such a prestigious festival jury. It has been a very intense few days watching many thought provoking films from around the world and deciding on the winner. But it has been so enriching, having long intense discussions with my co-jury members. I have learnt so much.”
In addition to Alankrita Shrivastava, this year’s Impact jury members are international ward winning filmmakers – Sofia Exarchou from Greece and Mohammed Hammad from Egypt.
Alankrita adds, “The Stockholm Film Festival is a wonderful space for independent filmmakers from across the world to interact. The Swedish audience is also fantastic. We had the most fantastic audience interaction post the screening of Lipstick Under My Burkha.”
Winner of the Tokyo International Film Festival’s Spirit of Asia Award and the Mumbai Film Festival’s Oxfam Award for Best Film on Gender Equality, Lipstick Under My Burkha, is also official selection at the POFF Tallinn Black Nights in Estonia, and the Cairo International Film Festival.
