Leonardo DiCaprio is likely to play the role of controversial cult leader Jim Jones in his upcoming biopic. It is been reported that DiCaprio is in the final stage of the discussion with MGM (Metro Goldwyn-Mayer) media company. The story of the film is written by Scott Bosenberg, who has also wrote the story of ‘Venom’ (2018), ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ (2019) and many more.
James Warren Jones, also known as Jim Jones was an American mass-murderer, cult leader, preacher and Christian Marxist, who made the famous religious organization named Peoples Temple, which was existed between 1955 to 1978. He was also the reason behind the November 1978 mass suicide at his Jamestown where more than 900 people died.
The biopic will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio of his own banner Appian Way Production company along with Jennifer Davisson. Appian Way company has also produced ‘The Aviator’ (2004), ‘Shutter Island’ (2010), Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’(2013), three times Academy Award winner ‘The Revenant’ (2015) and many more.
