Kris Wu aka Wu Yifan, the Chinese-Canadian singer, got sentenced for thirteen years of jail for raping three women. A court in Beijing found him guilty and convicted him the punishment today, November 25, 2022. According to few media reports, the court said Kris will be deported after serving his sentence.
Kris was arrested for a rape case last year in August, after getting reported in July by Du Meizhu, an 18-year-old beauty industry influencer. At first, the woman accused the singer via social media. She said Kris had date-raped her while she was drunk. Later she also accused him of raping two other minor girls.
After a year-long lawsuit, Kris was found guilty and got sentenced for thirteen years of jail. The Beijing court stated that Kris Wu had forced the three women for sex in 2021 while they were drunk.
The 32-year-old singer, who was born in China with Canadian nationality, is one of the most celebrated stars in China and also in South Korea. He rose to fame as a rapper with K-pop boy band, EXO. He left the group in 2014 after serving as a trainee of K-pop giant SM Entertainment, since 2007. Kris has also worked in several Hollywood films as an actor such as ‘XXX: Return Of Xander Cage’ (2017), ‘Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets’ (2017), etc. He has also judged many singing reality shows in China.
