Kim Cattrall has confirmed that she will not be returning to ‘And Just Like That’ (2021) as Samantha Jones. The actress made the announcement in an interview with Today last week.
“It felt like dipping my toe back in time and having a wonderful afternoon”, Cattrall said of her cameo in the ‘And Just Like That’ Season 2 finale. “That’s as far as I’m gonna go.”
Cattrall’s decision not to return to ‘And Just Like That’ comes after a public fallout with her co-star Sarah Jessica Parker. The two actresses have been feuding for years and Cattrall has repeatedly said that she would not return to the ‘Sex And The City’ (1998) franchise.
In the ‘And Just Like That’ Season 2 finale, Samantha moved to London after a falling out with Carrie. Cattrall’s cameo showed her sending Carrie a text message, but the two characters did not interact on-screen.
“I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye to Samantha. She’s like a lot of other characters that I’ve done over the years. I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much, and I’m so appreciative of her”, Cattrall said in her interview with Today.
It remains to be seen whether ‘And Just Like That’ will continue without Samantha Jones. The show’s showrunner, Michael Patrick King, has said that he is open to the possibility of a third season, but he has not yet made a decision.
‘And Just Like That’ Season 2 is streaming now on HBO Max.
