BBC Studios India, that has successfully adapted more than half a dozen shows such as ‘Criminal Justice’ (2008), ‘Luther’ (2010), ‘The Office’ (2005), ‘Doctor Foster’ (2015), ‘Press’ (2018) and ‘The Night Manager’ (2016) for Indian audiences, is gearing up for another Indian adaptation of a classic show.
Reportedly, BBC Studios India is all set to make the Indian adaptation of the popular British mystery crime drama series, ‘Sherlock’ (2011). The makers has brought on board Kay Kay Menon for the remake of the critically acclaimed show, and the actor will step into the shoes of Sherlock, played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the original.
Apart from Kay Kay Menon, the makers have also roped in Ranvir Shorey and Rasika Dugal also for the show. While Ranvir will enact the role of Dr. Watson, the character of Rasika Dugal is yet to be disclosed.
Bengali and Bollywood filmmaker Srijit Mukherji will direct the Indian version of the show. He recently directed the Pankaj Tripathi-starrer ‘Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga’ (2022) and the Taapsee Pannu-starrer ‘Shabaash Mithu’ (2022).
According to the sources, the show is in the development since last one year and the makers are planning to start the shooting by April 3, 2023.
