Karan Johar announced yesterday his next directorial movie, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. He is returning to direction after 5 years. His last directed movie was ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016).
Karan Johar posted on Twitter today, 6th July and shared the teaser of the film, which is written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Kahitan and Sumit Roy. Johar wrote, “Thrilled to get behind the lens with my favourite people in front of it! Presenting Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, headlined by none other than Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy”.

Apart from this, Johar also announced the rest of the film’s cast, veteran actors Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra, who will be playing the role of Alia Bhatt’s grandparents. Jaya Bachchan, who has worked with Johar before in the movie, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ (2001) and ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ (2003), will be playing the role of Ranveer Singh’s grandmother. The film is about to release in 2022.
