Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut were honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri Award, which is the fourth highest civilian honour in India. They received the award in a ceremony, which was held in New Delhi at Rashtrapai Bhavan today, on 8th November. India’s President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and many others were present at the ceremony.
The Padma Awards such as Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri Awards are given for Arts, Social Works, Sports, Public Affairs, Science, Trades and Industry, Medicine, Literature and Education. The trio Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut are conferred with Padma Shri Award for their contribution in performing arts in their respective fields. Apart from this trio, 119 other recipients were also honoured with these Padma Awards today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted about the honorable ceremony and wrote, “Attending the first of Padma Awards ceremonies for years 2020 and 2021. Karan Johar also wrote on Twitter, “This is a monumental day for me, my mother, my kids and my company, and will forever be etched in my memory. Thank you so much for all your wishes and the abundance of love!”
Ekta Kapoor took to her Instagram and posted a video of hers getting honoured with the Award and wrote, “It is an absolute honour to receive the Fourth Highest Civilian Award for my humble contribution in the field of performing arts. It is a surreal moment and a matter of great pride. I want to dedicate this badge of honour to my pillars of strength – my mom, tushar laqu ravie and dad. They believed in me with their whole heart and it is because of them, I am who I am!
