Veteran actor, Kabir Bedi, has always impressed us with his charming looks, creative body works and amazing acting in Bollywood, that too since the ‘70s. With his baritone voice and tall physique, Bedi has always been loved by women.
Not only in Bollywood, but he is also quite famous outside India. Hence, it’s no surprise that Bedi recently achieved the Lifetime Achievement Award in Venice for his all-time famous Italian TV series, ‘Sandokan’ (1976), on September 3, 2022 at the Italian Pavilion working space, created by Cinecittà, as part of an initiative by the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual (DGCA) of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
According to Variety, Bedi was honoured the award by Tiziana Rocca, who is an actor-cum-producer and Roberto Stabile, who is the chairman of DGCA and special project of Italian Ministry of Culture.
Kabir Bedi has spent a vast time of his life working in Italy and made quite good connections between India and Italy. While accepting the award, Bedi shared in his speech, “I have tried for many years to make people in Italy focus on India, and people in India focus on Italy. Since the time of ‘Sandokan’, I have done over six major series in Italy and not many people realize that really Bollywood and Hollywood are a far lesser part of my life than my career in Italy.”
‘Sandokan’ is an Italian six-episodic series, directed by Sergio Sollima, which is adapted from author, Emilio Salgari’s namesake novel, published in 1883. Kabir Bedi played the titular role of Sandokan.
