Actor Jackie Shroff has joined hands with the Thalassemics India, which is an initiative for the patients combating the deadly blood disorder Thalassemia. The actor graced the event today in Bangalore with his presence showing all his support and encouragement to this initiative of making people aware with correct information about the preventable disorder.
Amongst the special guests present was Dr. Lawrence Faulkner, the man behind who has done close to thousand bone marrow transplants for thalassemia. The credit of this entire initiative goes to the Lalit Parmar from Sankalp India Foundation.
Speaking on his association with Thalassemics India Jackie Shroff shared, “It is a disorder we all have heard about but not many of us have the awareness about it, which is the reason for the increase in the birth of Thalassemia major children. It is my absolute pleasure to be associated with them, and together we would like to bring a change and work towards a Thalassemia Free India.”
Sankalp India Foundation (SIF) is a registered, voluntary, youth, apolitical organization working for the cause of voluntary blood donation, disaster relief, thalassemia management, prevention and cure since May 2003. The organization has made accessible systematic care and management of thalassemia to more than two thousand children registered across over eighteen centers supported by the organization.
Jackie Shroff, at the event, interacted with the patients before the event began. It’s great to see an actor of his calibur to take time out and come and support such a nobel initiative.
