In this fast-paced era, where sci-fi, thriller and suspense genres are grabbing much attention, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ (2023) has brought back the nostalgic ’90s Bollywood romance to give us some break. With a perfect mixture of romance, family drama, spectacular star cast and enjoyable songs, the film has instantly captured audiences’ hearts. Even the chemistry between Alia and Ranveer garnered immense applause.
The film brought back Karan Johar in the director’s seat after a long seven years. Even though the storyline was almost predictable from the beginning, a few unexpected social awareness’s made it more interesting. No wonder ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ made a decent collection at the box office.
What if we told you that the love story in the film was inspired by a real-life Bollywood couple? It’s hard to believe, right? This is exactly what we learnt from the director himself. During a conversation with Mid-day, Johar revealed that the story of his recent hit was inspired from Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna’s love story.
The 51-year-old director said that the story may have “subconsciously” inspired the lead characters because of the bonding between the ‘Zulmi’ actors in their marriage. Johar revealed that after closely observing their chemistry while hanging out with them, he got the idea that it was not impossible for two individuals from different strata and demographics of society to find love.
For the unversed, Akshay and Twinkle first met while filming ‘International Khiladi’ in 1999 and fell in love instantly. After dating for one year, they tied the knot in 2001 and embraced parenthood with Aarav and Nitara. Although the ‘Mela’ actress has a very short career in the industry, the ‘Desi Boyz’ actor has worked in several Dharma Productions films like ‘Brothers’ (2015), ‘Simmba’ (2018), ‘Good Newwz’ (2019), ‘Kesari’ (2019), ‘Sooryavanshi’ (2021), ‘Selfiee’ (2023), etc.
Truly, it is incredible to know about this information and now it makes ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ more captivating.
