Seldom does one see an actor reprising the role he or she had played in the original, in a remake of the film. Mostly actors, who are familiar with the audience of the language the film is made in are cast in the remake. While in ‘Kabir Singh’, Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani play the roles essayed by Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in ‘Arjun Reddy’, the film which the former is a remake of, there are a bunch of other actors playing the characters essayed by other actors in the original.
In the original, there was this character of a female superstar who has a brief affair with Arjun (Vijay Deverakonda) when he is going through the lowest phase in life. Actress Jiah Sharma had played that role. Incidentally, her character had the same name in the film. In the remake, the same role will be reprised by popular television actor Nikita Dutta. The film is helmed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy, the man who helmed the original and the promos seem to indicate that they have stuck to the original material. Hence, one expects Nikita’s character to have a similar graph as Jiah’s in the film.
Nikita has earlier appeared in films like ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’ and ‘Gold’ and has several hit TV shows to her credit. She was recently seen in the web show ‘Aafat’.
