The talented actor Hugh Jackman has given several memorable performances but his role of Wolverine has become iconic. But did you know, to what insane lengths the actor had to go through while playing the character?
The last film of the character, ‘Logan’, was released in 2017 and six years since its release, finally Jackman has started shared his experiences on playing Wolverine, in various interviews. Previously we reported about how the actor revealed he never took any kind of steroids for developing that huge rough muscular physique. This time he shared how those growling and screaming made quite an impact on his voice.
During an interview with BBC’s Front Row show, Hugh Jackman opened up about the toll that the role has taken on his voice and shared, “My falsetto is not as strong as it used to be and that I directly put down to some of the growling and yelling. My voice teacher in drama school would have been horrified by some of the things I did for Wolverine.”
For the unversed, Huge Jackman was also quite famous for his singing and dancing parts on Broadway and is fond of doing these in his spare times as well. Hence, such experience while playing the character damaged a lot of things which he loved to do.
Jackman further shared, “We learned the technique in school about how to shout and how to yell without ruining your voice. However, during Wolverine, I did some screaming and yelling and things that I think did damage my voice, which I think I’m working on. I work with a singing teacher, and I make sure that I try not to hurt myself. And I really put a lot of effort into both physical movement, and my vocal preparation for every role.”
On the work front, Huge Jackman is currently all set to reprise the role of Wolverine in Shawn Levy’s ‘Deadpool 3’ beside Ryan Reynolds.
