Hrithik Roshan was last seen in the crime drama ‘Vikram Vedha’, which was an official remake of the Tamil super hit of the same name. Despite favourable reviews, the film did not perform well at the box office.
Though it was released in cinemas more than seven months ago, it has yet to have its OTT premiere. The current speculation is that the film will premiere on Jio Cinemas on May 12, that is, next Friday. Jio Cinema, the film’s OTT partner who is also the digital streaming partner for the ongoing IPL tournament, purposefully postponed the OTT release of the film, as per reports. The plan was to release the film during the IPL matches in order to acquire a larger audience.
The director duo Pushkar-Gayathri, who helmed the Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan-starrer ‘Vikram Vedha’ (2017) also directed the Hindi adaptation. YNOT Studios, Plan C Studios, T-Series Films and Reliance Entertainment produced the remake. It also starred Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Yogita Bihani and Rohit Sharaf in pivotal roles.
