There was a time when every second film’s soundtrack would bear Himesh Reshammiya’s name. In the last couple of years, the composer-singer-actor, has cut down on work and has become very selective about the kind of projects he takes up. Despite delivering hits for ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’, his own production ‘Teraa Surroor’ and the album ‘Aap Se Mausiiquii’, Himesh has maintained a low-profile over the last one year. Though gets to see him on the very popular music reality ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs’ judging the show along with Javed Ali and Neha Kakkar, he has conspicuously gone missing from the music scene. The composer has made a conscious effort to compose for fewer films in the last couple of years but one does not quite recall the last time he had taken a break that had lasted for more than a year. While fans are happy to see the multifaceted Reshammiya on the reality show, they are craving to hear some fresh tunes by the composer.
From what one has heard, Himesh has put together some stellar composition for Anil Sharma’s next ‘Genius’ which also serves as the launch pad for the latter’s son Utkarsh. As the film launches a new face, music is going to play an important role in getting the film some attention in the initial phase of promotion. Interestingly, the music rights of the film were bought by Tips even before Sharma had signed Himesh for the project. As the film is expected to release early next year, Himesh’s fans would have to wait for some more time before they get a glimpse of the soundtrack. One just hopes the music makes the wait worthwhile.
