Films that attract female audience are in. First ‘Piku’ and now ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ are doing wonders at the box office. Even ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, another family that has found patronage from the ladies, has done well with its target audience. In this scenario, ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ couldn’t have been better timed. A tearjerker emotional affair, it promises a lot for the female audience and that is what should help bringing footfalls.
Even though Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan haven’t had a commercial success for a while now, their performances haven’t been challenged, which means one good package affair and audience would be happy to pay the two star actors a visit all over again. This is something that would come into play from Friday evening and then Saturday onwards if Mohit Suri and Mahesh Bhatt indeed manage to pull off a romantic drama that turns out to be yet another classy entertaining affair a la ‘Aashiqui 2’.
‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ has a much mature plot to it though and while one waits and watches how die hard Emraan Hashmi fans at the single screens react, the makers would be targeting multiplexes for the core audience. Even a decent start of Rs. 5-6 crore on the opening day would give the film a platform to grow further in days to come.
