Director Ridley Scott’s ‘House Of Gucci’ released on 26th November in theatres even after the famous Italian fashion brand, Gucci family’s multiple protests. In an interview with The Independent Channel before the release of the film, Particia Gucci, the second cousin of Maurizio Gucci said, “We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family.” She further said, “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system..Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything. But there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”
Now, after the release, the heir of the fashion brand, Aldo Gucci has declared in an official statement on this issue, “This is extremely painful from a human point of view and an insult to the legacy on which the brand is built today.”
2021 has not been so special for the director, Ridley Scott as his two big films ‘The Last Duel’, which released on 15th October and ‘House Of Gucci’ couldn’t make any impact on audience and now the Gucci family has also denounced the film. Though Lady Gaga’s role as Partizia Reggiani saved the film with her marvellous performance to become a flop.
‘House Of Gucci’ story is based on author Sara Gay Forden’s book ‘The House Of Gucci: A sensational story of murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed’, which was published in the year 2000. The film follows the late 1970s from the relationship of Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) with Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) to their marriage, the separation and at last his murder mystery. The film also shows how Patrizia helped Maurizio rebel and take control over the company from his uncle Aldo Gucci (Al Pacino) and cousin Paolo Gucci (Jared Leto). In the film Salma Hayek plays the role of Giuseppina Auriemma, who is a psychic and becomes friends with Patrizia Reggiani.
