Emmy Award winner ‘Game Of Thrones’ (2011) HBO series writer, George R. R. Martin has gained immense popularity after the series became a blockbuster hit. Apart from being a screenwriter, Martin is also a TV producer and a novelist. He is basically the author of the epic fantasy novel ‘A Song Of Ice And Fire’, from which ‘Game Of Thrones’ is adapted.
In the year 1987, Martin created a sci-fi superhero novel ‘Wild Cards’ co-created by Melinda M. Snodgrass. Now, Marvel is going to adapt the first book of ‘Wild Cards’, which is written by Martin, Harold Waldrop and Roger Zelazny and make a latest superhero comic series.
George R.R. Martin publicly announced the news and said, “As my fans may already know, the ‘Wild Cards’ world holds a special place in my heart, so to have the privilege of announcing that an industry titan like Marvel is going to produce the narrative from the beginning as a comic book brings me no end of joy.”
‘Wild Cards’ is a series of sci-fi superhero anthology, set largely during an alternate history of post World War 2 in the US. The story follows humans, who got affected by the Wild Card virus, an alien virus that rephrase the DNA and mutates in the survivors. Those, who acquire crippling or repulsive physical conditions, are known as Jokers, while those, who acquire superhuman abilities, are known as Aces and those few, who acquire minors, are not worthy of being called Aces and are known as Deuces.
Marvel has also announced the news on its official website and revealed that fans will get the chance to enter Martin’s beloved ‘Wild Cards’ universe this June. The first part is titled ‘Wild Cards: The Drawing Of Cards #1 (of 4)’, which will be written by a team of comic stars, writer Paul Cornell, artist Mike Hawthorne and cover by Steve Morris.
