Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Bachchan Pandey’ released in theatres yesterday and as predicted the action-comedy turned out to be a copy of Bobby Simha starrer Tamil film ‘Jigarthanda’ (2014) and Varun Tej starrer Telugu film ‘Gaddhalakonda Ganesh’ (2019).
Fans immediately took to social media with a flurry of comparison between Akshay Kumar and Varun Tej, on who made the better gangster. Going by the digital banter, we seem to have a clear winner in Varun Tej, who fans claimed had better style, swag and charisma.
The flood of posts and comments of fans across the country, mentioned how Varun Tej’s makeover and transformation stands out better in comparison to Akshay Kumar who fails to meet Tej’s swag. The roles though similar seem to come more naturally and organically to Varun, who slips into it with confidence and ease, while with Akshay there was definite effort and theatrics.
Varun Tej walked away with rave reviews and applause for his performance in ‘Gaddhalakonda Ganesh’. Such was the impact the star made in the action-comedy that fans remember it fondly even to this day.
