There is no end to the troubles for ‘Hera Pheri 3’. Last year there was news that instead of Akshay Kumar, Kartik Aaryan has been signed by the makers for the film. Then in a concave held in November 2022, Akshay Kumar confirmed that he is not a part of the comedy franchise anymore. There were also reports that things were not well between Akshay and producer Firoz Nadiadwala. All these rumors were put to rest when the makers shot an announcement video of the third installment of the successful comedy franchise with Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty in February this year.
The market was hot about the film and then came the news that the film will be directed by Farhad Samji. With this development, several fans started the “Remove Farhad Samji from Hera Pheri” trend on social media and requested the makers to remove Farhad Samji from the film.
Later on, T-Series issued a public notification claiming that they own the sole and exclusive right of copyright of all music and audio visual song rights to the franchise across all mediums.
According to a news published in Bollywood Hungama on April 23, it is learnt that Eros International has now joined the fray. As per a notice issued in Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema magazine, Eros claims to be the only and exclusive owner of the Intellectual Property Rights, as well as the title, digital rights and music rights to ‘Hera Pheri 3’. Moreover, they also claimed to have sole ownership over ‘Welcome Back’ (2015).
Furthermore, according to the notice, Firoz Nadiadwala’s Base Industries Group owes Eros International a sum of Rs. 60,07,75,236 as of April 17, 2023, inclusive of interest. It was then stated in the notification that Base Industries Group had consented that Eros International would hold the exclusive rights to ‘Hera Pheri 3’ until the production house made the required payment. Additionally, Eros stated that Firoz Nadiadwala would not try to release ‘Hera Pheri 3’ in India or anywhere else in the globe without their permission.
The notice concluded that they also hold the rights to all of Firoz Nadiadwala’s upcoming films, including the sequel to ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ (2002).
