Ayushmann Khurrana is one actor who is on a roll! The actor, who delivered two massively successful films last year in the form of ‘Badhaai Ho’ and ‘Andhadhun’, started the year on a jubilant note with Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Article 15’ which went on to become a good success. He is one actor who, with every film, is trying to do something different and exploring a subject which has never been attempted before.
In ‘Dream Girl’, his second release of the year, he is seen playing a man who portrays the female characters of Seeta and Radha in mythological/devotional plays. As seen in the trailer, towards the latter portions, he is seen working in a call centre and projecting himself to be a girl to the people who call him to garner more traffic. Assuming a feminine identity would never leave him, it seems.
Ayushmann has a penchant for doing films that are rooted in reality but are unconventional at the same time. While this film seems to be yet another testimony to his distinctive choices, it also looks like the most mass-appealing or the most commercial film he has been part of till date. Debutante director Raaj Shaandilyaa has written TV shows like ‘Comedy Circus’ on television and is known for having a liking for massy humour. That is definitely reflecting in the way the film has shaped up. The trailer has done its job of making the audience look forward to the film.
