Ever since Ranveer Singh’s first look from ‘Don 3’ was revealed, no wonder Shah Rukh Khan fans are super disappointed. The film series has always been very close to everyone’s hearts. Rather we should say, the ‘Don’ franchise has always been one of the most loved action-thrillers of all time in Indian cinema.
Whether it’s Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 version, or SRK’s 2006 and 2011 versions, there is nothing to compare with ‘Don’! Hence when Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment unveiled Ranveer Singh as the next Don, evidently it was shocking for fans as well as hard to digest.
Whilst there were several speculations that SRK himself did not want to be a part of ‘Don’ franchise anymore, no official confirmation was made from the past month.
However, recently Farhan Akhtar has finally opened up about this topic, after hearing so much disappointment from the internet. For the unversed, actor Farhan Akhtar was the director of SRK’s both franchises ‘Don’ (2006) and ‘Don 2’ (2011). And once again, ‘Don 3’ will be directed by him.
“I’m not in the position of replacing anybody. These are things that we discussed over the years, I wanted to take a certain direction with the story, somehow we just couldn’t find common ground.” In an interview with Variety, Farhan shared, “We just parted mutually knowing that it’s probably for the best. So that’s where it is.”
Despite fans’ huge disappointment, the ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ actor feels very excited to work with Ranveer Singh. This is the first time the duo will be collaborating, that too for an action-thriller. “I’m really excited Ranveer’s on board. He’s so charged and so ready to go.” Akhtar further shared, “It’s a big film, just purely from the point of view of an actor, it’s a big thing to do, and we’re really excited to have him on board. His energy is energising us, so to speak.”
The ‘Don 3’ announcement was made in August, where it showed us a badass glimpse of Singh, standing near the window of a skyscraper, with his back in front of the camera. Later he is seen introducing himself as Don while lighting up a cigarette in swag. Wearing a brown leather jacket paired with brown goggles, Ranveer is looking absolutely dashing. In the background, we got to hear him saying, “Gyarah mulkon ki police dhoondti rahi hai mujhe, par pakad paya hai mujhko kaun? (11 countries of police are searching for me, but who could have caught me yet?).”
Currently there is no update on ‘Don 3’s release date and other star cast. According to a few sources, it could be somewhere in 2025.
