Did you know Tom Hanks was so worried about Austin Butler’s mental condition after playing Elvis Presley, that he offered him the next film Master Of The Air?

Last year Austin Butler garnered much appreciation around the world for playing the titular role of Elvis Presley in the film ‘Elvis’ (2022). But did you know Butler’s role made a huge effect on the actor both mentally and physically? In an interview with British GQ, Butler revealed that he literally got hospitalised the day after filming the musical biopic. He said, “The next day I woke up at four in the morning with excruciating pain and I was rushed to hospital.”

Austin was diagnosed with a certain virus that simulates appendicitis symptoms and hence he was bedridden for weeks. “My body just started shutting down the day after I finished ‘Elvis’,” he said.

This news shocked Tom Hanks so much and he was quite worried about Austin. Tom Hanks, who played the role of Colonel Tom Parker in ‘Elvis’, offered Butler the ‘Master Of The Air’ film to overcome the trauma with another light-hearted character.

Austin recently revealed to The Times Of London and said that Hanks told him, “You have immersed yourself so deeply in ‘Elvis’ that, for your mental health, it would be wise to go straight into something else. If you just jump off the train, you might have an emotional whiplash and you know, I’ve got this thing I’m producing’.”

Although it caused him severe trauma, Austin Butler won an Oscar for Best Actor for ‘Elvis’.

‘Master Of The Air’ tells a story about five miles above the ground and behind enemy lines, eleven men inside a bomber known as a Flying Fortress battle flocks of German fighters. The mini-series is supposed to make its debut on September 20 on Apple TV+ and HBO Channel.
