Padmini Kolhapure was originally cast as the heroine in ‘Kasam’ (1988) but she had to drop out after shooting a few scenes because she was getting married in 1986 to Tutu Sharma.
Her friend Poonam Dhillon, who was also dating one of the film’s producers, Ashok Thakeria, stepped in to replace her.
Tutu Sharma produced films such as ‘Aisa Pyar Kahan’ (1986), which starred Padmini Kolhapure. They have one son together, Priyaank Sharma. The couple divorced in 2004.
Directed by Umesh Mehra and produced by Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria, ‘Kasam’ stars Anil Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, Gulshan Grover and Kader Khan. It tells the story of a police officer who goes undercover in a village to expose a drug ring. The film was a bit predictable and did not become a hit at the box office. “Kasam Kya Hoti Hai” composed by Bappi Lahiri and sung by Asha Bhosle and Nitin Mukesh was popular.
