Shawn Levy, the director who is not only famous for his sci-fi films, is also known for a few rom-com genres as well. From ‘Just Married’ (2003), ‘Pink Panther’ (2006), ‘Night At The Museum’ film series (2006-2014), ‘Real Steel’ (2011), ‘Date Night’ (2011), ‘The Adam Project’ (2022), the 55-year-old director has given several all time blockbuster films.
Even though he is currently super busy with his upcoming film ‘Deadpool 3′, he couldn’t ignore the ongoing writers’ strike. The main reason for that is, it has halted his other big franchise of ‘Star Wars’ and the long-anticipated TV follow-up to his film ‘Real Steel’.
A disappointed Levy shared that it was when the development of ‘Star Wars’ just began, the strike happened, although he expressed his support for the writers and said that he would not resume work on the project until they had received their fair share.
In a close conversation with Collider, Levy shared, “We are in that holding pattern that so much of our industry is in”, Levy shared. He also said that the situation with the ‘Real Steel’ show is quite similar. “I could literally say, alive. It’s the same. Still, as I told you, I want it as badly as the lovers of ‘Real Steel’ want it, so alive, but paused.”
Shawn Levy’s ‘Deadpool 3’, starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Leslie Uggams, Owen Wilson, Tom Hiddleston and Jennifer Garner, is set to release in 2024.
