The comedy film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ (1994), starring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, has achieved cult status today. However, at the time of its release, it failed to attract the audiences to the theatres. Recently, director Rajkumar Santoshi blamed Salman and Aamir for its poor box office performance.
Rajkumar Santoshi reasoned that the stars weren’t present in the city to promote the comic caper. He also stated that he was filming elsewhere and he, too, was unable to promote the film. “There was no film-related activity, and no interaction with the media. Whatever had to be done for the film’s publicity could not be done. The distributors were equally enraged.”
Following this interview, Priti Sinha, the daughter of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ producer Vinay Sinha, refuted Rajkumar Santoshi’s allegations that Aamir Khan and Salman Khan were unavailable to promote their film. She clarified that Salman Khan and Aamir Khan not only helped to promote her father’s movie but they also contributed to its completion. She added that it took four years to complete the movie and that Salman Khan and Aamir Khan both changed their schedules to make it happen.
