‘Brahmāstra’ is that one big film, that was planned by the makers eight years ago and the shooting had begun five years back, in 2018. It continued till March this year. So it’s quite understandable that how much precious the film is for the actors, as well the audiences. Now, in 2022, ‘Brahmāstra’ was finally been released, on September 9.
Several latest films have witnessed great losses this year like ‘Samrat Prithiviraj’, ‘Shamshera’, ‘Bachchhan Paandey’, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, etc. ‘Brahmāstra’ meanwhile faced a lot of negativity and a narrative was built that it will be boycotted. Moreover, it also fell prey to several controversies from Ranbir Kapoor fat-shamming pregnant wife Alia Bhatt to Ranbir’s ten-year-old video going viral where he claimed to eat beef or the actors being stopped from visiting the temple in Ujjain.
Now that the film has been released, viewers have given mixed reviews to the film, though they praised the VFX, performances and Ayan Mukerji’s direction.
Despite all these hard-hitting controversies, ‘Brahmāstra’ has collected Rs. 75 crores worldwide gross on day one of its release. The trade has estimated that ‘Brahmāstra’ moving towards the Rs. 100 crores mark even before the end of its first weekend.
Alia Bhatt and director Ayan Mukerji have shown their earnest gratitude towards the audiences. Mukerji wrote on social media, “BRAHMĀSTRA DAY 1. Gratitude. Excitement. Hope. A Big Thank You to Everyone who has gone to the Cinemas to experience ‘Brahmāstra’, keeping our movie going culture, vibrant and dynamic. Looking forward to the next few days.”
On the other hand, Bhatt shared a picture of the logo of ‘Brahmāstra’, with the words ‘Thank You’ printed on it.
